Challenge Framing

Background

A nonprofit organization centered on supporting women in leadership positions within the healthcare industry was struggling to maintain relevance in today’s world. Although the organization still received support from its partners and had a cohort of dedicated members, interest from patrons and potential recruits was waning. The organization’s board members and staff were struggling to identify the cause of the decline and how to reinvigorate their image and value proposition to all stakeholders.

Approach

The Recombinators team applied the first phase of our FRAME methodology to identify the challenges that, if solved, would generate the greatest return for the organization. The Recombinators team began by conducting interviews and reviewing the current org structure, strategic imperatives, and recent stakeholder survey data.

Approach

The Recombinators team applied the first phase of our FRAME methodology to identify the challenges that, if solved, would generate the greatest return for the organization. The Recombinators team began by conducting interviews and reviewing the current org structure, strategic imperatives, and recent stakeholder survey data.

Our team then consolidated the challenges we heard into templates to vet each one, identifying degree of impact and feasibility to solve, then guided the board and key staff members to discuss each challenge and align on key details and importance in a 1-day workshop. The workshop concluded by voting and selecting the most important challenge to solve and place as a central focus for the next year.

Output

We shared all materials to support the team in refining the nature of each challenge and developing plans to address the challenge selected by the workshop attendees.
